Full Diagnostic Dyslexia Assessment

One clear fee for a complete diagnostic assessment. No hidden costs, no packages to compare and nothing added afterwards. You will know exactly what your assessment costs, and what it includes, before you proceed. Every assessment begins with a free 15-minute telephone consultation.
The fee covers the whole process, from the first conversation through to the written report and the support that follows it.
A full diagnostic report can be used to evidence support in school or college, for Access Arrangements, and for Disabled Students’ Allowance applications where applicable.
The same £495 fee applies whether you are assessed in person or by online remote assessment anywhere in the UK.
The £495 includes travel to a suitable local setting within the normal face-to-face service areas. Your home, or your child’s school where the school agrees and can provide a quiet room. There is no Defining Dyslexia clinic or assessment centre to visit, and no separate call-out charge.
If you would prefer assessment at an alternative arranged venue, please ask. Where an external venue needs to be hired, an additional venue cost may apply, and it would always be discussed and agreed with you beforehand. Remote assessment involves no venue considerations at all.
The price stays the same. How you pay it is up to you.

A focused dyslexia screener assessing literacy abilities and cognitive profile. The report provides clear recommendations and an indication of whether dyslexia or another learning difficulty is likely present. This is not a formal assessment or suitable for Access Arrangements or DSA.

About your assessor
Every Defining Dyslexia assessment is carried out by Mark, a PATOSS-registered specialist assessor with fifteen years of experience supporting children, young people, and adults with dyslexia and other learning differences. Mark holds an APC and works to the standards set by SASC, the body that governs SpLD assessment quality across the UK. Mark’s background as a former SENCo means he understands the school system from the inside, and brings that knowledge to every assessment and report he writes.

A full diagnostic dyslexia assessment with Defining Dyslexia is £495. That includes the assessment appointment, all scoring and analysis, the complete written diagnostic report and feedback afterwards. There is no separate report fee, and no travel charge within the areas covered.

Payment can be made by bank transfer, by GoCardless or through PayPal. Where an employer, school or university is funding the assessment, that can usually be arranged directly with them.
